Director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Health (CIIS). Holding a PhD in Health Sciences from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (2012), is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Dental Medicine (UCP).
His research focuses on identifying salivary biomarker panels through in silico studies using bioinformatics tools developed at SalivaTec (SalivaTecDB, OralInt, and SalivaPrint Toolkit) and validating them with cutting-edge technology for protein identification in small volume saliva samples.
He also investigates multi-data integration for Precision Dentistry. He led the CovTec project, which enabled certified SARS-CoV-2 saliva tests, and the SPRINT project, which developed innovative non-invasive saliva tests for diagnosing and monitoring prevalent oral diseases, contributing to Precision Dentistry and improved Oral Health.
