International Student Status – Non-EU Nationalities

International students have the opportunity to apply for the Bachelor and Integrated Master programmes at FMD-Católica. On this page, you will find information for students who meet the eligibility criteria legally defined under the International Student Status.

For this purpose, an international student is defined as someone who cumulatively:

  • Does not have the nationality of a European Union member state;
  • Is not a direct descendant, spouse (husband/wife), or partner of a national citizen of an EU member state;
  • Has not been legally residing in Portugal for more than 2 uninterrupted years as of 1 January of the year they intend to enter higher education (the applicant, their spouse, or a parent they legally reside with);
  • Is not, as of 1 January of the year they intend to enter higher education, a beneficiary of equal rights and duties status granted under an international treaty signed between the Portuguese State and the State of which they are a national.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for evaluation, applicants must:

  • Qualify as an International Student;
  • Hold a qualification equivalent to the Portuguese secondary education or a qualification that grants access to higher education in the country of origin;
  • Provide evidence of the capacity to attend higher education, i.e., have completed the final examinations of terminal subjects from their foreign secondary school education equivalent to Portuguese subjects (a list will be made available shortly), which may be accepted as entrance exams, or demonstrate knowledge in the subjects of entrance exams at a level and content equivalent to that required from students admitted through the general access and admission regime.
