At the Faculty of Dental Medicine (FMD) students gain skills while serving the community.

FMD is a partner in the CApS Project – Universidade Católica and Service-Learning: Innovation and Social Responsibility.

Pilots were started with the Gerodontology I and II units in partnership with Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Viseu. It is currently starting the inclusion of this innovative methodology in the Oral Medicine IV and Preventive Dentistry II units with a project called "Special Smiles", with financial support from the Viseu Municipality, which aims to promote the oral health of patients with special needs.
