Raquel Monteiro Marques da Silva

Assistant Researcher

Generic Bio

PhD in Biology from the University of Aveiro in 2005, with the study of the molecular mechanisms involved in the evolution of a genetic code alteration.
Was Research Associate in the Population Genetics group from IPATIMUP (2008-2013), working in the dynamics of the NAD metabolic network and its roles in health and disease. These enzymes have been implicated in aging, infection, and are the targets of a novel class of antitumor drugs.
Was Invited Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Sciences, and researcher in the Bioinformatics group from IEETA and in iBiMED, University of Aveiro (2013-2019). Developed bioinformatics tools to detect genome rearrangements and pathogen signatures, with implications for diagnosis and therapeutics. In collaboration, participates in additional lines of investigation that address the mechanisms of anti-fungal resistance in clinical isolates, and computational methods to predict the impact of human mutations.
Currently Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Universidade Católica Portuguesa and researcher in CIIS (Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Health), in the platform SalivaTec, focused on biomarker research and diagnosis in saliva.
