Dentist and Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dental Medicine of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, where he has been teaching since 2018 in Operative Dentistry and Orthodontics. He holds a PhD in Surgery and Odontostomatology from the University of Salamanca, with the thesis “Oral Microbiota in Caries Prevention, Diagnostics and Management – Challenges and Opportunities.” Graduated in Dental Medicine from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in 2008 and later completed a Master’s degree in Microbiology at the Universidade de Aveiro. His scientific activity focuses on oral microbiome research, prevention and management of dental caries, oral health literacy, and bioactive materials in Dentistry.
He is an integrated researcher at the Interdisciplinary Health Research Center (CIIS-UCP), participating in research projects related to community oral health, digital technologies applied to Dentistry, and salivary biomarkers. He is the author and co-author of several scientific publications in indexed international journals and serves as a guest reviewer for scientific journals in the fields of Dentistry and Health Sciences.
He is also involved in the development of the Católica Biobank, particularly focused on the Dental biobank, as well as in the application of Artificial Intelligence as a learning tool through haptic simulators. His pedagogical activity has focused on pre-clinical and clinical teaching in Operative Dentistry, with a particular emphasis on the implementation of innovative teaching strategies and active learning methodologies in Dental Medicine education.
