PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Aveiro and is currently an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Dental Medicine of Universidade Católica Portuguesa (FMD-UCP), where she coordinates the undergraduate programme in Biomedical Sciences. Her teaching experience includes lecturing in various courses, as well as supervising Master’s and PhD students.
Since 2018, she has been developing research at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Health (CIIS), with extensive experience in molecular biology, microbiology and cellular response assessment.
Her research focuses on the biological evaluation of biomaterials for biomedical and dental applications, including biocompatibility assessment using mammalian cell culture models and antimicrobial activity testing of compounds and biomaterials. In recent years, she has been involved in several research projects and currently leads a CIIS internal project investigating salivary biomarkers to monitor bone formation after dental treatments, based on a cross-sectional study involving patients from the university dental clinic.
In parallel, she is responsible for the communication activities of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and has extensive experience in science communication and outreach initiatives, contributing to the dissemination of scientific knowledge to diverse audiences.
