Cell Culture Facility – CellTec

The cell culture laboratory – CellTec - operates in a Biosafety Level 2 containment environment and follows standard operating procedures to ensure that FMD investigators can safely develop their projects.

Authorized users are properly trained and subjected to practical and theoretical examinations on good practices and biosafety procedures.

The laboratory includes a laminar flow chamber for cell lines, an incubator, optical microscope and dedicated cold systems.

Several cell lines are available and cryopreserved and analysis for mycoplasma contamination is performed regularly to ensure their integrity.

As an example, CellTec serves research projects that include the assessment of biocompatibility of materials for biomedical application, cell regeneration studies,cytotoxicity assays and cellular viability and drug action studies among others.
