PhD in Biochemistry (2006) by the University of Aveiro, she is currently an assistant professor at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, at the Faculty of Dental Medicine - Viseu. Her experience as a teacher includes teaching disciplines in several courses and mentoring several PhD and Master students.
Current research interests focus on the molecular mechanisms involved in the cytotoxicity and virulence of microorganisms and their associated biotechnological potential. She has also developed studies for the characterization of biomaterials (polymers and nanoparticles) in several applications, namely with regard to the biocompatibility of materials and their antimicrobial properties, for biomedical application. She has complementary training in valuing intellectual property and disseminating science. She has participated in different initiatives that aim to communicate science in various aspects, from the transfer of technology to the social and academic valorization of science.
