This curricular unit constitutes the “formal presentation to” students of scientific research in general and research carried out at the Faculty of Dental Medicine in particular.

The general objective of the UC is for the student to become familiar with the generic processes associated with the scientific research process, the communication of results and the corresponding motivation to be part of projects taking place at FMD. Specifically, at the end of this UC the student must be able to:

- Carry out a bibliographical search to identify published information relating to a specific subject.

- Understand the structure of a scientific article. - Select reliable bibliographic sources.

- Find the scientific production of a researcher. - Understand the production indicators used by the scientific community.

- Know the research carried out at CIIS with special emphasis on that carried out at FMD.

- Know and use Ciência UCP and other similar platforms.
