The overall objective of the course is to give students an integrated overview of genome sequencing technologies, genome databases, genome assembly and annotation, genome structure, and the value of genome sequencing in solving biological, biomedical, and biotechnology. To this end, when taking the subject, students must achieve the following specific objectives: Understand 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation genome sequencing technologies. Know and know how to use sequence databases and important bioinformatics tools for studying genomes. Understand how DNA sequences are assembled into chromosomes. Understand how genomes are annotated. Know the structure of the genomes of model organisms. Understand the concepts of comparative and evolutionary genomics. Understand the concept of transcriptomics, metabolomics and proteomics. Know how to use knowledge in Genomics to solve concrete problems.
