The main objective of the General Microbiology Course Unit is to recognize the ubiquitous nature of microorganisms and the human body as a vast ecosystem, where millions of microorganisms cohabit.
Understand that there are several factors that combine to establish a dynamic balance that is decisive for the health of individuals. Upon completion of the UC, students must be able to:
Know the principles of classifying microorganisms;
Know the structures of the microbial cell and its role in microbial physiology;
Know the theoretical principles of nutrition and growth of microorganisms;
Recognize the habitats and factors that determine the colonization of the human body by microorganisms and the most prevalent infections in humans.
