PhD in Chemistry — Medicinal Chemistry — from the University of Aveiro, developed in collaboration with the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Her research activity has focused on the development and biological evaluation of new antimicrobial and antitumour pharmacological entities, the biological characterization of biomaterials for biomedical and oral health applications, oral microbiome characterization, salivary biomarkers, and translational approaches for the diagnosis and monitoring of oral and systemic diseases.
She is an integrated member of Center of Interdisciplinary Research in Health (CIIS-UCP) and coordinator of the SalivaTec platform, where she develops research on saliva-based technologies, oral microbiome profiling, and biomarker discovery in oral and systemic health contexts. She also coordinates the Viseu centre of Católica Biobank, supporting clinical and translational research projects.
Ana Peixoto Gomes has published over 60 articles in international peer-reviewed journals and has experience in supervising students and researchers in Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, and Dental Medicine. She is currently an Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dental Medicine of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, where she teaches Biomolecular Laboratories, Pharmacology and Biomedical Materials.
