Open class - "Molecular Diagnosis: COVID-19 and other infectious diseases"

The Undergraduate Degree in Biomedical Sciences of the Faculdade de Medicina Dentária, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, promotes an online open class, dedicated to the topic "Molecular Diagnosis: COVID-19 and other infectious diseases", given by Professor Raquel Silva.

The session will take place in a ZOOM room on June 2, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

TARGETS:

12th grade students; undergraduate and postgraduate students (PhD, Masters and Postgraduates) with an interest in Health Sciences and Biomedicine.

FRAMEWORK:

How do COVID-19 tests based on saliva work? What is the difference between an RT-PCR test and an antigen test? What does it mean to test negative for SARS-CoV-2? What is a multi-drug resistant bacteria and how are they detected? In this class, these and other questions related to pathogen identification and characterisation will be addressed, and there will be an opportunity to answer related questions.
